Assessment
The criteria for successful completion of the course and the award of QTS and PGCE, (Professional Graduate Certificate of Education), are set out in the Associate Teacher Handbook, together with detailed procedures for assessment. Successful Associate Teachers will have demonstrated: - consistent achievement of the Standards for QTS as specified in "Qualifying to Teach"
- sound teaching ability observed and assessed by the Course Directory, Deputy Course Director and other nominated assessors
- completion of a Reflective Professional Journal demonstrating research and analytical application of theory into practice, as well as evidence of reflection and target setting
- at least pass grade in four written assignments
- completion of an ICT Portfolio
There is no final written examination.
The award of the PGCE is based on the quality of reflection, evaluation and analysis as demonstrated in the written assignments and RPJ.
Assessments are made by the Course Team, delegated staff and an External Examiner from Higher Education.
