Course Outline : Business Education The KMT PGCE/QTS in Business Education prepares you to teach the full range of business subjects across Key Stages 4 and 5 (13 to 19 years). It also provides 'enhancement' for KS3 through links with ICT and pastoral activities. We provide trainees with extended teaching placements in two of our consortium schools eg one placement might be in a grammar school and another in a comprehensive school. All trainees follow a common course which prepares them to teach Business Studies subjects at the various levels (eg GCSE and Advanced Level) and for both academic and applied (vocational) courses. As we are a Scitt all of our training is school-based. Over recent years all of our trainees have been successful in finding their first teaching appointment before the end of the course. A significant number have been appointed within our consortium schools. Several of our recent trainees have been promoted to posts of responsibility (eg Head of Department) within a year or two of starting their teaching career. The Course - Weekly subject studies sessions provide a link between educational theory and school-based practice. These sessions are delivered by a number of experienced practitioners, usually the current mentors. As these providers are practising teachers they are fully conversant with the challenges of the role of a teacher.
- You will have the opportunity to observe and experience a range of teaching and learning styles in your placement schools.
- You will be able to update your business and ICT knowledge and skills during the course. Practical aspects of teaching are supported by theory covered in Professional Studies.
- Your progress is assisted and monitored by an individual Mentor and a Lead Mentor for the subject. Several of our business mentors qualified to teach through the KMT scheme.
Entry Requirements We welcome applications from a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds.
