The Support Work in Schools Award and Certificate were developed in response to the National Agreement on Raising Standards and Tackling Workload. This agreement recognizes the crucial contribution of school support staff, working as a team alongside teachers.

The qualifications aim to develop candidates' skills and knowledge and to recognize their achievements in a practical way that is relevant to the work context. It is anticipated that much of the practical evidence required to meet the assessment requirements of the qualification will be naturally occurring as part of the candidate's day to day activities.

Kent and Medway Training offer the Support Work in Schools (SWiS) qualification at two levels.
Level 2 - award and certificate
Level 3 - award, certificate and diploma
The qualification is unit based so the number of units completed will determine whether you obtain an award, certificate or diploma

SWIS

We are a SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) consortium of fifteen successful schools in the Kent and Medway areas, providing post graduates with the opportunity to train to become secondary school teachers. This one year full time course, based entirely in schools within our consortium leads to a PGCE ((Professional Graduate Certificate of Education) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
