Welcome to Kent & Medway Training Kent and Medway Training is a School Centre Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) consortium of seventeen successful schools in the Kent and Medway area, offering graduates the opportunity to train to become secondary school teachers. Our entirely school-based course provides practical training underpinned by theoretical research leading to a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Professional Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) validated by the Open University Validation Service, equipping you with the skills and knowledge for a rewarding career in education. Our trainees (we call you Associate Teachers) come from a wide age range, background, experience and ethnicity that is evident in our schools and local community. We welcome and encourage applicants who reflect this diversity. If you join us you will be at the sharp end of an important initiative; you will need to be flexible and be able to withstand challenging experiences. This is not a course for the faint hearted but you will have many people to support you including your own personal Mentors and the course team. Life in schools is busy and demanding yet rewarding. As an Associate Teacher you will have the opportunity to become fully involved. By the end of the course you will have an in-depth understanding of many facets of the role of a teacher and a strong foundation on which to build your future professional development.
