Summary: We are seeking to appoint Lead Mentors (Partnership Subject Leads) for Secondary ITT From September 2021

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the current KMT Secondary Course Directors across all hubs
  • Management of subject training for trainee teachers within your subject
  • Delivery of subject studies sessions as and when appropriate
  • Leadership of the team of KMT Mentors in your appropriate schools
  • Involvement in the selection and recruitment of trainees
  • Participation in the assessment of trainees through lesson observation and portfolio moderation
  • Development and implementation of the ITT curriculum
  • Marking of Reflective Practice writings


  • Able to demonstrate and share effective practice in teaching and learning as a role model for trainee teachers within Secondary schools
  • Involvement in ITT eg as Mentor or class teacher working with trainees
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to contribute to the further development of KMT’s Secondary provision
  • Refer to the attached document outlining the role of the Lead Mentor*


Personal funding or half day time release from school (if applicable) plus additional funding for subject studies session delivery, the assessment of Reflective practice and travel costs. Those not in school will sign a consultancy agreement with KMT in order to receive direct payments.

1 Lead Mentor for Art

1 Lead Mentor for Citizenship/Psychology and Social Science combined

1 Lead Mentor for Classics to join the MFL team

1 Lead Mentor for Drama to support the current Lead Mentor

1 Lead Mentor for Geography

2 Lead Mentors for History

1 Lead Mentor for Health and Social Care

1 Lead Mentor for Media Studies

1 Lead Mentor for PE to support the current Lead Mentor

1 Lead Mentor for RE
